Questions to Ask When Designing a Kitchen

LUXURY KITCHEN FINISH FOR A BEAUTIFUL HOME

What finish should your kitchen cabinets have: high gloss, mid-sheen, or matte? This actually depends on the design of your house. High-gloss units, along with matte, mid-sheen, and mid-sheen finishes, will look great in a modern setting. Avoid high-gloss cabinets if the house is classic or a historic building and go instead for mid-sheen or matt finishes. If you choose high-gloss cabinets, utilize natural wood elsewhere in the design—as flooring, worktops, or other elements—to soften a potentially clinical vibe and contribute to the creation of a more modern, family-friendly space. When feasible, use fabric couches or dining chair covers to provide color and texture. It's usually a good idea to conduct some research on cabinet finishes and colors. Ask your top kitchen designer the correct questions, and ask if you can bring cabinet door samples home to see how they will appear in natural light rather than under showroom illumination. Just as crucial as choosing the ideal cabinetry color and finish are the best types of kitchen worktops. If you're installing a high gloss, contemporary kitchen, this is an excellent time to add warm texture, like wood; if your room has period detailing, like a marble fire surround, marble worktops - or composite lookalikes - may be a good way to tie the scheme together; or perhaps you'd like to mix and match different worktop materials.

If you're building beautiful kitchen interiors on a tight budget, you may have skimped on the cabinets or you may be planning to install your kitchen yourself. In either case, installing high-quality, attractive kitchen worktops can instantly improve the space. What if you're creating an Ikea(opens in new tab) kitchen yourself, for example? A skilled kitchen designer will take care of the little things for you. Just a few of the lesser components to incorporate into your kitchen interior design are as follows: Do you need to fill a gap? Could it not be converted into a useful breadboard or tray nook instead of being covered with a blank piece of cabinetry? How high are the tops of your cabinets above the ceiling? To avoid this and to maximize storage space, they need to be either far enough away so that you can reach in to clean them (kitchen cabinet tops are sticky dust traps). Where will your least attractive or least-used equipment (including the microwave) be kept? In order to prevent them from collecting dust and clogging up countertops, they should ideally be installed inside a pantry cabinet or stored away when not in use.

Is everything set up correctly in height? It's all very well to stack fitted ovens, but if yours is too high and you can't quickly or securely remove hot meals from it, you've made an expensive error. Can young children securely access what they need in a similar manner? They may become more autonomous and avoid climbing up on worktops by having their cups and bowls placed in a low cabinet. Is there space to set down hot dishes on either side of the stove or right close to the oven? You need to have at least 40 cm of workspace available for this. Are there enough and are there electrical ports exactly where you need them, especially on a kitchen island? In a perfect world, you wouldn't need to unplug any devices in order to use or charge them, like a phone. It's important to pick the appropriate kitchen storage for your needs in a well-planned kitchen, in addition to having enough storage space. For instance, deep drawers are frequently more practical for storing cookware, serving ware, and china than typical floor cabinets, which require you to go on your hands and knees to get items towards the rear of the cabinet. Pay attention to the little things as well.
